THE WOLF 2003
June 12th, 13th, And 14 th.

SPRINGERVILLE, AZ.: A good time for all lowlander bikers to head for the higher elevations of the cooler White Mountains in, Run With The Wolf Country.

Be it hanging out at the Springerville Rodeo Grounds, shopping around at the veriest vendors, to doing the events the Wolf puts on or putting around in the high Country of the White Mountains and taking it all in. The Wolf puts on one of the beast rallies for this time of year and it’s all for one reason, being the proceeds going to local scholarships and the Shrine Transportation Fund. Five scholarships where given out at  $1,000 each this year to the kids who applied, and were chosen by Run With The Wolf and the Shrine organization.

The photo below is one of the five young children, Rose Planteen who received her $1,000 scholarship for college, standing next to one proud father John Planteen.

Jim and Darlene Muth of Run With The Wolf said all in all, it was a pretty good turn out for the three full days of the rally considering there were five other biker rally events going on around the State. Only one of the biker games had to be canceled on Friday due to many bikers who had not arrived. Saturday was the big day as everyone got up in the early a.m. and jammed on the Poker Run, which was 161 miles with a total of 5 poker hand stops.

Winners of the high-hand Mike Montano from El Paso, Texas won $500, and the low-hand winner was Mark Simano of Silver City, New Mexico getting $150.

This year’s bike show had three categories, best in show, custom and paint. Cinder of the Hells Angels, Nomad chapter won all three categories with his beautiful custom made red and white Harley.

Bikers came from all over the Western Rocky States, as did the vendors. They came from California, Nevada, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and from all parts of Arizona. Darlene Muth said all the lodging in the Springerville area were booked full.

Jim Muth said this year’s biker parade was one of the biggest they’ve had since the Wolf began in 2000.

The house of Wolf rock and rolled on Friday and Saturday nights, both having big crowds of bikers. Friday night kicked off with Clark County and Rocking Horse. Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. the Rocking Horse Band jammed. Then from 8: 30 on to 1 p.m., Arizona’s #1 top recording band, Mogollon blew the top off the Bud Barn as a record crowd went crazy into the night and closing out this year’s Run With The Wolf Biker Rally for 2003.

Run With The Wolf organization wants to thank all those bikers who came to the Rally this year. They also want you to know that this was all for the kids in need and without your help this Rally would not be possible. The Wolf committee works very hard to put on this rally in hopes everyone has a great time and will return next year and to bring a new friend.

We at Biker Rally News especially like to attend these smaller biker rallies at a population fewer than 1,500 bikers. They seem to be more down to earth, not saying the bigger one’s our not that great, they most certainly are. We call these smaller biker rallies, the little big rallies. You will meet the same person more then once and there is a more down home feeling at these smaller rallies that you wont find at the bigger one’s. Hope to see you next year.
